Mr. Quinn Receives 2017 Teaching in Excellence Award
CONGRATULATIONS Mr. Quinn!
CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. Dennis Quinn on being selected to receive the 2017 Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching Award. This is Mr. Quinn’s 50th year teaching social studies in the Ludlow Public Schools; beginning his career in 1967. In addition to his classroom responsibilities he also serves as the adviser for the BMS National Jr. Honor Society and can always be spotted supporting just about every after-school event.
“His positive nature, along with his excellence in teaching his subject area and admirable rapport with students, parents and staff is second to none,:” commented BMS 8th Grade English Teacher, Mrs. Tina Gilbert, of Mr. Quinn. “Even with the most teaching experience in our district, Dennis is always open to actively participating in new professional development opportunities and consistently demonstrates collaboration and cooperation within his department and team members.”
When learning of Mr. Quinn receiving this recognition Mrs. Stacy Monette, BMS Principal commented, “Whether teaching 5 years or 50 years, I imagine Mr. Quinn as the same type of teacher today that he was fresh out of college. He always has a smile to share, possibly a story to tell, and maybe some hockey stats to ponder. Dennis continues to be a presence at Baird, where students gather around him between class periods, and linger after the bell. I feel very fortunate that as a first year principal I have a teacher as amazing as Mr. Quinn in my building.”
Beyond the classroom Mr. Quinn enjoys fishing, trips to Maine, and spending time with his family. Being a proud UMass Amherst alumni he holds season tickets to the UMass basketball, football and hockey teams and can regularly be seen wearing his maroon, black and white colors as he enthusiastically cheers on the Minutemen from the bleachers.
“Dennis is always willing to lend a helping hand to both students and staff,’ shared Gilbert. His excellence in teaching and continued commitment to his students, the larger Baird family and Ludlow community shines through year after year.”
Mr. Quinn receives congratulations from BMS Principal, Mrs. Stacy Monette, LPS Superintendent, Mr. Todd Gazda and his social studies students!
